The Trained Eye series began
in October of 2000 as I wandered in the railyard near downtown Colorado
Springs. Boxcars were parked on sidings for the weekend. While gazing
at the sides of the well used cars, I began to see pictures. Although I
had seen abstractions in the details of objects my whole life, this
time I photographed what I saw. After receiving much encouragement from
my wife Susan, friends, and other artists I continued to shoot abstract
images.
Objects that have been painted, weathered, oxidized, scratched,
repainted, or otherwise seen much use are a favorite place to find
random beauty. Although I enjoy portaiture, nature shooting, and many
other types of photography, abstraction is my favorite.
I will be adding more image galleries in the near future so check back soon.
